Jason Carter, CFA®, MBA

Jason earned both his Bachelor's degree and MBA from Valparaiso University, establishing a solid foundation in business and finance. With more than 20 years of dedicated experience in financial planning and investment management, he has guided individuals and families through complex markets. In 2013, Jason achieved the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation, reflecting his rigorous commitment to the highest standards of investment analysis, ethics, and professional excellence. This blend of education, extensive experience, and ongoing pursuit of knowledge empowers him to deliver sophisticated, research-driven guidance tailored to each client's unique goals. 

As head of investment research and portfolio management at Cana Wealth Management, Jason oversees the strategic direction of investment decisions. He draws on deep market insights to understand historical performance while anticipating future trends and proactively managing associated risks.  A central aspect of his role is working closely with clients through regular, personalized meetings. He listens carefully to understand their values and aspirations before crafting tailored investment strategies. His goal is to align each portfolio with the client’s life stage and objectives, focusing on a client-first approach with thoughtful, transparent, and disciplined decisions that prioritize long-term security over short-term gains. 

Jason is deeply involved in the Northwest Indiana community. He has served in various capacities at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, currently as an usher, formerly as a member of the congregation council, a confirmation mentor, and with the men’s homeless ministry.  Previously, Jason and his wife fostered children through the local system—an experience that ultimately led them to adopt two wonderful children. These roles reflect his strong commitment to faith, family, and giving back to the community that has been his home for over 30 years. 

Outside of work, Jason stays active by playing basketball a few times a week before sunrise, a refreshing way to begin the day with energy and focus. He is passionate about Russian literature, which offers timeless insights into human nature and decision-making. An avid movie watcher, he enjoys everything from thought-provoking dramas to classics. One of his favorite ways to connect with his children is by exploring probability, statistics, and ethical problems in everyday situations—creating family games that spark curiosity and debate.
